Growing Green: Grade 4 Students Embrace Organic Gardening at Excel Schools

Grade 4 students at Excel Central and Excel Global Schools began their Junior Organic Gardener-1 course, learning about the importance of organic farming, the health benefits of organic food, how to produce organic fertilizers, the disadvantages of pesticides, and the use of farming tools. Led by researcher Mrs. Sudhamathy, the course aims to foster environmentally conscious individuals equipped with practical skills for sustainable agriculture.

Why Organic Farming?

Students discovered the importance of organic farming and the numerous health benefits of organic food products, understanding how these practices contribute to a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.

Producing Organic Fertilizers

Hands-on lessons on producing organic fertilizers were included, teaching students various composting techniques and natural methods to enrich the soil.

Disadvantages of Pesticides

The course also covered the harmful effects of pesticides, educating students about the environmental and health risks associated with chemical pesticide use.

Introduction to Farming Tools

Students were introduced to various farming tools, learning their proper use for effective and efficient gardening practices.
