Academic

Learning is an Art

Academic – third one in the order of 5As as per Excel’s learning strategy occupies a significant role in the life of Excelites. Academic achievement is important for the successful development of young people in society. Students who do well in school are better able to make the transition into adulthood and to achieve occupational and economic success.

Academic excellence and related skills help one to get into a career, but life-skills help one to make a success of it and become a better human being, capable of managing personal success. Excellence in life is therefore not an accident; it is doing the right things right, continuously. So, with the ultimate aim to mold the blooming buds at the right time with an appropriate formula, S2CTR, prove to be an effective tool in the teaching learning process.

Individual Level Activity

Individualised learning for an optimum learning outcome

Individualized learning is a philosophical approach to the teaching and learning process. It involves the measuring of the cognitive maturity of a student in any subject and customizing content and delivery strategies to suit that individual.

A method of teaching in which content, instructional technology and pace of learning are based upon the abilities and interest of each learner.

Ways of implementation of ILAs in Excel:

  • Allow choice
  • Encourage peer support
  • Let the children take ownership of their learning
  • Let the children help plan independent activities
  • Encourage reflection
  • Develop time management skills
  • Explicitly teach the skills needed for developing creative, critical thinkers
  • By using the various patterns and tools (TPQ technique)

Group Level Activity

Discussion based learning to improve communication and team-working

Group activities enable students to discover deeper meaning in the content and improve thinking skills. The most effective use of group work is that it engages students with higher level content that is thought-provoking, difficult to understand or has multiple interpretations.

Ways of designing  Group Level Activities  to match the learning objectives in our school:

  • Create group tasks that promote interdependence
  • Assign group work in accordance with the ILA
  • Create assignments that correlate to the students’ skills, interests and abilities, beginning with simpler tasks and progressing in difficulty (as Patterns)
  • Structure the tasks so that each member can equally contribute to the project.

SPICE CLIMATE

Creating a Positive and Inclusive Learning Environment through SPICE

we understand that creating a positive learning environment is crucial for the success of our students. That’s why we have implemented SPICE Climate, a program that focuses on creating Social, Physical, Intellectual, Cultural, and Emotional Climates in the classroom.

  • The Social Climate refers to the relationships and interactions between students and teachers, as well as among the students themselves. We strive to create a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  • The Physical Climate refers to the physical environment of the classroom, including the layout, lighting, and temperature. We aim to create an environment that is comfortable and conducive to learning.
  • The Intellectual Climate refers to the intellectual challenge provided by the curriculum and the level of engagement and motivation of the students. We strive to provide students with a challenging and stimulating curriculum that encourages them to think critically and creatively.
  • The Cultural Climate refers to the cultural diversity and inclusivity in the classroom. We aim to create an environment that values and celebrates the cultural backgrounds of all students.
  • The Emotional Climate refers to the emotional well-being of the students and the level of support provided by the school. We provide emotional support to our students and help them develop healthy coping mechanisms.

SPICE Climate program is designed to foster a positive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and well-being. By fostering positive social, physical, intellectual, cultural, and emotional climates in the classroom, we aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment that allows our students to reach their full potential.

TPQ Techniques

Tools, Patterns, and Questions

We believe that a deep understanding of concepts is essential for academic success in today’s competitive world. That’s why we have implemented TPQ Techniques, a method that aims at fostering a deeper level of understanding in our students. TPQ stands for Tools, Patterns, and Questions. These techniques are designed to channelize the thinking process of our students and help them develop a more profound understanding of the concepts they are learning.

The Tools component of TPQ Techniques provides students with the necessary tools to analyze and understand a concept. For example, the use of graphic organizers, mind maps, and flowcharts can help students visualize and organize information in a meaningful way.

The Patterns component of TPQ Techniques encourages students to look for patterns and connections between different concepts. This helps students to make connections and see the bigger picture, which can deepen their understanding of the subject.

The Questions component of TPQ Techniques encourages students to ask questions and think critically about the information they are learning. This helps students to develop a deeper understanding of the subject and to apply the information in real-world situations.

We believe that TPQ Techniques is an effective way to foster a deeper level of understanding in our students. By providing students with the necessary tools, encouraging them to look for patterns, and encouraging critical thinking, we aim to help our students become proficient in their subjects and better equipped to succeed in their future endeavors.

Conceptual learning through S2CTR

S2CTR refers to various skills attained by students when they learn a concept. In Excel, we have a wide range of teaching methodologies that helps students to engage in active learning through S2CTR. (S – Self – Management Skill, S – Social Skill, C – Communication skill, T – Thinking Skill and R – Research Skill.

In Excel, we promote individual learning ability of a child by giving ILA. ILA is given before teaching a concept. This ILA will be given in such a way that the child should get familiar with the topic before teaching the concept.  This prior knowledge will help them to understand better while teaching. They are taking responsibility of their own learning. Social Skill comes into play when a Group Level Activity (GLA) is given to the students. During GLA, students share their ideas about a particular concept in groups. While sharing ideas, they learn to respect the thoughts of others, hence develop their Social Skills. GLA also develops team spirit, innovative thinking and equal participation of students.

Sharing the thoughts during GLA improves the communication skill of the students. Through sharing of thoughts vocabulary is enriched. Fluency in speaking and the style of language get enhanced. Questionnaire is another tool that helps to improve the Communication Skill of the children. Pattern plays a vital role in improving the thinking level of the children. In Excel, we use more than 25+ patterns, to channelize the thinking process. Different patterns enable the learners to think in different ways. It contributes much to inter-relate concepts to real life situations of the children.

Research Skill is developed by giving investigation work, case study etc. Investigating on a particular topic helps students to improve their researching skill.

Excel Wisdom Centre

The motto of Excel is Wisdom Enriches. Wisdom Centre is designed as executed in such a way that it helps the students and staff members to gain knowledge and sharpen their wisdom. This all will be able to spread their wisdom to the society.

NEET & IIT JEE Coaching

Excel provides complete guidance and support to students that they will be competent enough to handle the NEET syllabus. This helps students understand and master the basic concepts in Mathematics and Science. The program is offered to 11th and 12th students by Perfect Academy. The classes will be scheduled weekly for two days.  Expert faculty from IIT’s, NIT’s and top Universities will be given training.
