OUR HISTORY

Read our tale of how the front yard of a house with 3 students turned into 3 fully fledged schools with 3000 students

Excel was founded in the small town of Thiruvattar in the late 1990s by a family of two parents. Wanting to give the best education they never received, Dr. Sree Kumar, our Chairman and Mrs. Brinda Sreekumar, our Managing Director set out to revolutionise education in rural Kanyakumari. The first classes were held in a converted barn, with only three students in attendance. Among the first ever batch of students was Ms. Ashika Sreekumar, the daughter of our founders and the current Director of Excel Global School, Chennai.

Over the next couple years, the school grew steadily as more and more families moved to the area and enrolled their children. By the the early 2000s, the school had outgrown the barn and was moved to a new, larger building on the within the same town of Thiruvattar.

In the years that followed, the school continued to expand, adding new classrooms, sports facilities, and extracurricular activities. By 2010, the school had become one of the top educational institutions in the region, with a diverse student body of over 3,000 students. Today, the school is known for its excellent academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and dedicated teachers and staff, all of whom are committed to providing a top-quality education to every student.

Saturday, 13 April 2002

First Block Inauguration

The first block of Excel Central School was inaugurated by Shri. Gagandee Singh Bedi, IAS, Collector of K.K. District. This new building provided modern facilities and infrastructure for the students, further enhancing the learning environment.

Inauguration of Excel Pearls Nursery School

Excel Pearls Nursery School was inaugurated by Dr. Chockalingam, Vice Chancellor of M.S. University, Thirunelveli. The addition of this nursery school helped to provide early education to young children in the area.

CISCE Temporary Affiliation

Excel Central School received temporary affiliation, allowing it to offer a wider range of programs and courses to its students.

Excel Global School is Born

Excel Global School was approved as a Cambridge International Centre by the University of Cambridge International Examination. This recognition served as a testament to the school's commitment to providing high-quality education to its students.

Permanent CISCE Affiliation

Excel Central School was granted permanent affiliation, which gave official sanction to start the Higher Secondary Course (ISC). This was a major milestone for the school, as it allowed it to offer a wider range of academic programs to its students.

Our very first grade 10 batch

The first batch of students from the ICSE board passed their 10th exams, with 21 students successfully completing their studies. Later that year, in June 2010, the first batch of ISC board students began their studies, marking yet another important milestone for Excel Central School.

Robotics Lab

A robotic lab was opened at Excel Central School by District Collector Dr. Rajendra Ratnoo. This lab provided students with access to modern technology and helped them to develop their skills in robotics.

A trek to the Himalayas

Excelites went on a trekking expedition to the great Himalayas. The proud Excelites planted the Indian flag and the school's flag in one of its peaks giving them bountiful memories and experiences.

An awareness programme on mitigating global warming was conducted at Excel Central School. This event made it into the Guinness Book of World Records, as it involved creating the largest finger painting in the world.
