Planting the Promise of Pongal
July 9, 2025

Excel Group of Schools celebrated a meaningful and traditional event by sowing seeds in their agricultural fields as part of the preparations for the forthcoming Pongal harvest. The occasion was graced by the presence of the Chairman, who, along with the staff members and enthusiastic students of the STEAM department, actively participated in the ceremony.

The fields were prepared with care, and in a symbolic gesture of respect for tradition and the farming community, participants entered the fields barefoot. Together, they sowed rice seeds, marking the beginning of the cultivation process that will later be harvested during Pongal celebrations. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and reverence, as students witnessed and took part in an experience that connected them to the roots of Indian agriculture and culture.

This initiative not only aimed to honor age-old customs but also provided students with a practical understanding of sustainable farming and the importance of agriculture in daily life. It served as a valuable lesson in teamwork, patience, and respect for nature. By engaging in such traditional practices, Excel Group of Schools continues to inspire students to appreciate cultural heritage while promoting environmental consciousness.

The seed-sowing ceremony truly reflected the school’s vision of holistic education, blending academics with hands-on experiences, cultural values, and environmental awareness. It was a memorable day that left a lasting impression on every participant, strengthening their bond with nature and tradition.
