The Excel Group of Schools celebrated the vibrant Onam festival in a grand manner over two days, bringing together students and staff for a joyous cultural experience. The celebration took place for students from KG to Grade 12, with the first day dedicated to students from KG to Grade 7 (Central and Global), and the second day for students from Grade 8 to Grade 12.
Both days began with the traditional practice of creating Athapookalam (floral decorations) in classrooms, where students from KG to Grade 12 enthusiastically brought flowers to decorate their spaces. Day 1 commenced at 10 AM in the KG ground with a formal program that started with a soulful prayer song, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Ashwandh Sreekumar, Principal of Excel Global School, Mr. Binu Kumar, Principal of Excel Central School, Mrs. Indu, Vice Principal of Excel Central School, Mrs. Rajasree Ajikumar, Director of Education and STEAM and Mr. Mahadevan, Student Counsellor of Excel Group of Schools. Teachers further elevated the spirit of the day with a mesmerizing Thiruvathira dance, followed by a series of cultural programs, including a fashion show, songs, and more student performances.
On Day 2, the celebration continued for students from Grade 8 to 12. The formal program began with a prayer song, followed by the lamp-lighting ceremony led by Mrs. Brindha Sreekumar, Managing Director of Excel Group of Schools and other dignitaries. Students and teachers showcased a variety of cultural performances, including vibrant dances, heartfelt songs, and inspiring messages from the staff, creating a memorable Onam experience for all.
The grand Onam festival at Excel Group of Schools was a perfect blend of tradition, culture and creativity, leaving students and staff with lasting memories of joy and celebration. To add extra fun to the festivities, students and teachers participated in engaging games, which brought even more excitement and enjoyment to the celebration.
